Photo Art Direction Mission:

To orchestrate the most effective creative solutions for all visual channels by collaborating with peers of different disciplines and working side-by side with design, copy and merchandising to develop concepts that maximize the creative potential and bring to life the concept through photography.

• Manage and direct photo shoots in-studio and on-location.

• Ensure creative concepts are on strategy by developing creative ideas against merchant and management objectives. Keeping abreast of current creative/photo trends as it relates to each brand’s objectives. Green-lighting creative strategy with brand partners prior to pre-pro with crew.

• Develop and manage photography schedules within the overall production schedule. Assign appropriate talent to accomplish creative strategy. Utilize strong time management skills and correct use of resources to continually improve creative, photography and production workflow.

• Lead pre-pro meetings with crews (photographers, stylists, set-builders, producers) to align them with creative objectives. Provide concepts, visual resource materials, propping/lighting/set direction, style guides and shot lists to set them up to succeed.

• Provide “big picture” guidance on-set and between multiple crews to maintain photography standards and consistency across all channels within the scope of a given season/story/campaign.

• Excellent project management skills. Ability to establish priorities, maintain deadlines and budgets. Pivoting when necessary to adapt to emerging priorities and unexpected challenges.

• Inspire creativity, innovative thinking and visual problem solving through thoughtful management and clear direction. Ability to exhibit diplomacy and decisiveness. Be a conduit of communication between senior executives and on-set talent.

• Bring to the shoot an understanding of how to direct photography for different media channels.

• Approve shots and provide final edit of imagery.

• High aesthetic and taste level, ability to work with little supervision, attuned to the photo industry and aware of current trends and industry talent.

• Mac proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge and MS Office. Working knowledge of Capture One, Lightroom & Sketch.

• Knowledge of color correction, retouching and image enhancements and the ability to communicate those needs effectively with post production talent.
